General Conference and IPRS - Call for papers
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) defines QUALITY as the “degree to which a set of inherent characteristics fulfills requirements", in which "requirements" are either “needs or expectations”, or both. This means that, internationally, quality of a given product is not considered as something theoretically pre-established, but rather as the satisfaction of the expressed expectations or unstated needs of the final users of that product.
Intersteno is the only international reference for Information and Communication Processing and is in the process of adopting a worldwide set of competences, where the notion of quality is pivotal. Such a set of competences will cover all the professions Intersteno deals with, namely: court reporting, parliamentary and other professional reporting, real time transcription (also called live subtitling), concise reporting (also called summary reporting) and secretarial activities.
The Intersteno Parliamentary and Other Professional Reporters’ Section and the Intersteno Scientific Committee are pleased to call for papers from both scholars and professionals for the General Conference of the 51st Intersteno Congress to be held in Berlin on July 25, 2017. The General Conference will be an important interdisciplinary think tank, gathering both theoretical and professional views on the following topics:
- quality in spoken and written language, quality in diamesic translation, quality in discourse analysis;
- notions of quality, accuracy and authenticity;
- quality in parliamentary and court reporting, quality in summary reporting, quality in live subtitling;
- quality in teaching reporting and both live and prerecorded subtitling;
- trends in quality control;
- quality in other related fields.
Abstracts of about 1,000 characters are due by March 31, 2017 and must be sent to the following email address: email@example.com, marked “Abstract proposal for Berlin 2017” in the subject line.
